TxtRoulette is an idea inspired by the fun of interacting with new people. With platforms such as Chatroulette and Omegle already on the internet, our team thought of the idea of combining the random interaction between users with anonymous text messaging. Using our service you can connect and text new people anonymously without needing a smartphone or downloading any apps. Users can get started by texting CONNECT to our service number (302) 839 - 8785; then they will be linked up with another user to get the conversation going.

Our team used Twilio to set up a texting service to relay anonymous text messages between users. We used the Google Go programming language to engineer our server on our DigitalOcean droplet, which handles the logic for connecting users together randomly and taking into account their blocked users and avoiding repeat conversations with people they've already talked to. With keywords such as NEXT, BLOCK, and DISCONNECT, users can find new people to talk to, block those who they don't ever want to match up with again, or exit the service.
